We all joke about “that” employee but it is for real and can cause a small company havoc.

We may even be joking about it because we know that we might have been that employee someplace we worked in our past.  One bad apple – well, you know what I am talking about, don’t you?

Are employees the bane of your existence. If you are a small business owner, your company can die by you making one bad hire.

One bad boss can make your whole staff miserable.  You remember, that psychopath/sociopath/crazy person you hired who was perfect until their 91st day on the job.

Hiring for skills only may get you people who can do the job but may not get along with each other.  Also, your company may be lopsided instead of well rounded.

How do you overcome an insane workplace?  Use hiring tools – background checks, behavioral assessments, behavioral interviewing or possibly even experienced recruiters.  Yes it may cost you a little, but won’t cost you as much as one bad hire. You may still be paying for the last one.
